Organised annually by the Guild of Fine Foods, 
the Great Taste Awards are the most comprehensive evaluation of food and drink products in the UK. 350 judges, from a variety of food related backgrounds come together over a two month period for exhaustive sessions of blind tasting. The system is both fair and rigorous ensuring that products are not awarded stars unless unanimously voted by at least 16 judges.
2010 attracted a phenomenal number of entries – 6021 in total, which made Caracoli’s success with their Cereal Bar and Mincemeat all the sweeter. Both items were awarded one Gold star which represents “a perfect food or drink”.
As James Nichols, General Manager at Caracoli, the food store and coffee shop in Alresford, Hampshire says:
“We have worked tirelessly to produce a top quality range of ‘Caracoli Kitchen’ foods. In 2009 we were delighted to win two Gold stars for our Chocolate Fondant cake and we are thrilled with this endorsement in 2010 for two more of our food products.”
Taking inspiration from similar food stores in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, Caracoli has an airy contemporary feel with its own clearly defined identity. The well stocked deli counter, local and international foods, excellent coffee, homemade cakes and cookies, as well as a short, seasonal menu for lunch and Sunday brunch draw a loyal following amongst its local and regional customers.
